Why does the storm rage?
My ship is tossed about.
It is
so
hard
to sail in the right direction
when the captain
cowers
below decks.
He does not steer the ship
out of fear.
He fears hitting the rocks.
(The rocks are still there –
he will probably hit them anyway.)
What a
useless
captain.
Hold on, O captain.
Trust your compass. Watch the lighthouse.
Do not flee the waves.
Know that a smooth sea
never
made
a skilled sailor.
I love this, especially the reminder that what he fears, will indeed happen if he hides from it, and the fact that he has something he can trust but he needs to be willing to use it and trust it.
